Nattokinase is a potent fibrinolytic enzyme extracted and highly purified from Natto, a traditional Japanese food that has been used for over 1,000 years. Natto is produced using a fermentation process of adding Bacillus natto, a beneficial bacteria, to boiled soybeans. The resulting nattokinase enzyme is produced when Bacillus natto acts on the soybeans, making it the only soy food that contains the unique nattokinase enzyme. The properties of the nattokinase enzyme closely resemble the enzyme plasmin.
